What’s happening…post tax season 2025
Tax season started out ok, but honestly burned me the f*ck out at the end. I had a pretty stressful last few weeks. My co-workers apparently had the time of their lives which is a little frustrating, but also I guess good for them!
On the bright side, since I worked a lot, I billed a sh*t ton and I should get a nice bonus. Which will help since the stock market is in the crapper lately thanks to you know who. I really don’t have anything I want/need to buy…so I guess I’ll invest most of it?
Enough negativity. Since tax season ended things have slowed down obviously. Well, work wise.
Both kids are still in the thick of soccer season - HS for S, Club for A. So we have HS soccer during the week and Club on the weekends. It’s been fun to watch them both play and improve. I do miss coaching, this being the first spring in like 10 years I haven’t coached a team.
I’m getting back in to exercise and trying to eat better since tax season ended. I (somewhat foolishly) attempted 75 Hard starting last week. I have no trouble following rules (hello, accountant here) so I thought I’d give it a try, even knowing with vacation coming up within the 75 Day period it would be tough to complete.
Positives -
doing two 45 minute workouts was tough, but put me in the mindset that was my #1 goal every day. I had to plan ahead, and I did. It was only last night (4/30) where everything kinda came apart and I failed on multiple to-dos.
Reading 10 pages of a nonfiction book was also a good kickstart. I finished one book I had started in January, and almost done w/another.
Negatives. -
Drinking a gallon of water a day. Gosh this was way too much for me. I felt like had to pee all the time and it was affecting my sleep. After a week I did cut back, so technically I guess I failed then, but whatever.
Diet - I knew this would be the killer. I cook 99% of our meals and working full time, sometimes I just don’t have the time to plan a meal, especially w/so much going on during the week. (I attempted to follow Atkins, as I had success w/it before.)
Neutral/TBA -
Progress pictures - obviously after 10 days there wasn’t much difference, but I am still going to keep doing it, since I’m still trying to do the workouts and trying to eat better overall. Maybe I’ll see some change before we go on vacation in June.
Overall -
75 Hard is an interesting concept. I do think it is a worthy mental challenge. I am considering tweaking it a bit and continuing on. For example, I might replace the water portion with a 5 or 10 minute meditation session, as that is something I have been on/off with and meaning to make it more a daily habit.
Stay tuned!
