What’s happening…August 2025

Back to school. Both kids are in soccer - S doing club with JB Marine, A his final high school season at Francis Howell North. It’s still crazy to think about that.

A hopes to continue playing in college and has gotten some pretty good interest from at least one school, which could work out nice as it’s only about 2 hours away.

Work is slightly busier with the impending 9/15 (business) and 10/15 (individual) extended deadlines. I’m still on 4 day work weeks, so nothing crazy.

I had my annual physical/check up and all was well, except slightly elevated cholesterol. I am hoping a couple tweaks to my diet and continued exercise will get that under control.

August weather has been better, so I was able to ride my bike to work every Wednesday this month, plus a couple extra weekend rides.

I’ve been reading quite a bit more lately, thanks to picking up a couple Cory Doctorow “Martin Hench” books from the library, as well as So Far Gone, which I read about on a blog somewhere. All three were very good, and not super long, which is appreciated! I have the final book of the Martin Hench trilogy on reserve at the library.

Wrapping up August was Labor Day weekend. We didn’t do a whole lot as neither kid had any sports going on. A started his new job Friday, then came home not feeling well so the rest of us took it easy all weekend as well.
